The Sunny Aviation Adventure Series is nine picture books that take children behind the doors of real aviation: an aircraft factory, a private-jet terminal, a maintenance hangar, the control tower, the cargo ramp and the sustainable fuel that now flies aircraft. Six-year-old Sunny, her friend Cleo and Pip the pigeon go there first.

The Sunny books are written for children aged 4 to 9, the years in which children decide what they believe they can become. They are read aloud at the younger end and read alone at the older end.

The Sunny Aviation Adventure Series is written by Aida Ismail, the founder of Special North, and published by Special North, an international book publisher whose team came from aviation.

There are nine Sunny titles in print, each answering one real question a child asks at an airport, from what an airport is to why aircraft need checkups.

Every Sunny book carries embossed Braille for visually impaired children, a push-button aviation sound, and a QR code that opens a sign-language video for deaf and hard-of-hearing children, so children of different abilities can read the same book together.

The Sunny books are published in English today. Spanish, German, French, Arabic and Chinese editions are in preparation, with native editors polishing the rhymes and the aviation terms.

Sunny books are printed on pure-pulp paper with water-based inks and shipped in plastic-free packaging, which matches what the books themselves teach about sustainable aviation.
